School Yoga Institute Yoga Teacher Training Information Waiver & Code Of Conduct - In-Person & Online

Liability Release & Acceptance of Participant Expectations

*School Yoga Institute is abbreviated below as SYI and all agreements are equally extended to its parent company Sacred Lotus Productions LLC.

* Participant Expectations: I agree to follow the rules and expectations of the course.

Awareness is fundamental to the practice of yoga and I am fully aware that some of the yoga poses may be difficult for me and that it is my responsibility to consult with a physician regarding any prior injury or condition that may affect my participation in any yoga classes or workshops. I also understand that there are risks outside of yoga class around and outside of the training facilities and I take responsibility for my own actions, safety, injuries, and potential illness derived from my time participating in this program.

I agree to not hold SYI or any of its affiliates liable for any injury, damages or illness related to my participation in class, workshop, training, retreat or any part of my stay at the training. I agree to assume responsibility for any risks or injuries, known or unknown, which I might incur as a result of participating in these classes, workshops, activities or other.

*While SYI will take all necessary precautionary measures to ensure the safety of students, I still understand that I am entering into a group setting with international traveling participants where the potential risk for illness may be higher. I agree to adhere to SYI's policies in terms of keeping myself and my peers safe during our time together.

In consideration for being allowed to participate in the daily events of the SYI course and on behalf of myself and my next of kin, heirs, and representatives, I release from liability School Yoga Institute and their employees and operational team from any and all claims, including claims of SYI negligence, resulting in any physical or psychological injury, illness, damages, or economic/ emotional loss I may suffer because of my participation in the course activities including travel to, from and during my stay. I am voluntarily joining a yoga teacher training course. I am aware of the risks associated with participating in the course activities. I understand that these injuries or outcomes may arise from my own or other’s actions, inaction, or negligence; conditions related to travel; or the condition of the location(s) or facilities. I assume all related risks, both known or unknown to me, of my participation and stay, including travel to, from and during my stay.

Please note that this is professional Yoga Teacher Training and not an intensive therapy program. It is expected that participants have their own support and therapeutic modalities in place while going through this training. While of course there will be space for personal reflection, it is imperative that the container remains strong and that we are not unloading or processing our traumatic experiences in this space. If you need guidance finding a therapist prior to starting this course, we are happy to help!

If I need medical treatment, I agree to be financially responsible for any costs incurred as a result of such treatment. I am aware and understand that I should carry my own health and travel insurance when traveling abroad.

If during a course, a medical condition is determined by the facilitator to be beyond the scope of the school, teachers, and retreat centers support during an educational program, I understand that it is in my best interest to seek appropriate medical attention.

I am aware that SYI will be creating videos and pictures during the training. I allow SYI to use recorded content from Online Yoga Teacher Trainings. I allow SYI to use respectful photo and video content during the training on its social media platform. SYI will not share any student personal information.

I understand that I am responsible for obtaining my travel documents and entry requirements for the country I am entering. SYI is not responsible for travel arrangements or visa documentation.

The use of drugs or alcohol during any training is not tolerated and may lead to termination of the program for the individual(s) partaking. If you are using drugs or alcohol, we may ask you to leave the training and location.

The use of phones during class time is generally not permitted unless otherwise explained or requested ahead of time. Unless you’re on a specific photo exchange or have been directed by facilitators/SYI team to have your phone, we ask that you not bring your phone to class. This includes texting and being on social media during class time. This may lead to discontinuation of the course if there is any continual problem with the use of phones in class after conversations/interventions with the teachers.

I understand the legal consequences of signing this document and release the SYI, any and all affiliates, employees, volunteers or other from all liability and assume all risks of participating in activities, including travel to and from this event. I understand that this document is written to be as broad and inclusive as legally permitted. I agree that if any portion is held invalid or unenforceable, I will continue to be bound by the remaining terms. I have read this document and I am signing it freely.

Code of Conduct

We love and welcome every single part of you. There is nothing you need to do, change, or improve to belong and be accepted in this training. Everything we do is an invitation for you to explore. The following guidelines help our yoga teacher trainings to run as smoothly as possible so that we can live harmoniously together.

Be on time - Many activities cannot begin until everyone has arrived. Being on time respects the time of your fellow students and teachers.

Attend every class - You are expected to attend every session. If you are missing class for any reason, please inform a facilitator ahead of time.

Sacred Space - Please respect our spaces by keeping them clean and tidying up after yourself and others. Take your shoes off when entering and don’t allow pets or other animals to come in.

Sattvic Diet - We follow a sattvic diet of healthy, fresh, vegetarian foods, that emphasizes no caffeine, tobacco, cannabis, vaping, drugs (including plant medicine), or alcohol. Please follow these guidelines on your off days as well.

Quiet hours - Please respect quiet hours (typically between 9pm-6am), especially in your rooms, to help your roommates and those living nearby have the quiet time they need.

Self-care - Take care of your energy levels throughout the course. Utilize the break times and days off to nourish yourself, and be sure to get enough sleep every night to be present for lessons.

Consent - No activity is mandatory. We do encourage everyone to step out of their comfort zone and explore new and sometimes scary things, but it is always up to you how much you want to participate. You can always step out and simply watch an activity, read or take notes in the background, or abstain completely and practice self study elsewhere.

Communication - Living in a community is wonderful, and not easy. Please keep your communication loving, mindful, and kind. Avoid gossiping, insulting others, or talking behind another’s back. Speak to your own experience during exercises.

Mindful Listening - Sometimes throughout the training we will share vulnerable things. During those personal shares in front of the group, imagine the speaker has a “talking stick” that asks others to listen without judgment. Avoid interrupting others when they share, even if you think it might add to the conversation.

Honesty and Transparency - Every student agrees to be honest and transparent about any and all pre-existing health and wellness conditions that may affect one’s ability to complete this course.

Assumed confidentiality - Everything we share in sacred space is not to be shared elsewhere without explicit permission.

Silent days - There will be times in this training where we will participate in the sacred practice of silence. Please try your best to hold this special container, even in your rooms. Typically, silence means not using technology, including typing, texting, or listening to music.
