SPORTING CLAYS RULES AND REGULATIONS

Safety

Safety is everyone's responsibility.

Eye and ear protection is mandatory for all competitors and spectators.

Guns must remain unloaded with action open at all times, except when a shooter is in the shooting station, ready to call for targets. Break action shotguns may be closed while stored on a gun stand or rack but must be unloaded. When preparing to shoot, shotguns shall be loaded with no more than two shot shells at a time.

While trappers (when applicable) at your station, or at adjacent stations are moving into position, squad members shall maintain all guns open and unloaded.

Any shooter displaying gross negligence or willful misconduct of safety will immediately be ejected from the competition, the course and club property.

Only one shooter in a shooting station at a time.

Children must be under close supervision by adults at all times.

No one is allowed in restricted areas or off pathways at any time. Everyone must stay within the railroad ties.

Never tamper with sporting clays traps. Contact staff for all malfunctions.

No alcohol allowed on course.

The Course

Please dispose of your empty shells in the buckets provided, unless they have fallen outside the confines of the railroad ties.

The course consists of 25 shooting stations numbered from Station 1 - Station 25. In addition, there is a 5-stand located on the west end of the premises from, which competitors will attempt various targets.  Lastly, there is a game trailer consisting of 3 automatic machines that will throw targets randomly.  The number and characteristics of targets from each station will be determined by Tinnin Hunt Club and will be the same for all shooters.

Equipment

Shotguns of 12 gauge or smaller, are to be used in attempting all targets. Shotguns fitted for multiple chokes are permitted. Shooters are allowed to change chokes only between stations.

Shot size shall be 7.5 or 8.

Conduct of the Shoot

The competitors will form their own squads. Only one squad may shoot at a particular station at a time.

Members of the squad shall take turns acting as scorekeepers and trappers.

When all members of a squad have completed shooting at a station, the squad rotates to the next assigned station.

To be scored as "Dead" (Hit) or "Lost" (Missed), and designated on score cards as an "/," the clay must separate into at least two clearly discernible pieces in the judgment of the scorekeeper/field judge. Targets not struck and broken shall be called "lost" or "missed" and designated by an "O" on scorecards.

A target, which breaks on launch, shall be declared a "no bird" and the shooter will be provided with a new target.

In the event of a "no bird" on any pair, nothing is established, and the pair is taken over. This also applies to gun/ammo malfunctions while shooting pairs.

At the start of shooting at a new station, the squad may elect to throw one target pair for viewing. After that, no more "view" targets may be called for by any member of the squad at that station.

Singles may be attempted with one shot.

Pairs may be presented as report, or true pairs. Each station will have a menu explaining the target presentations. A shooter may attempt two shots at the same bird, or at different birds. Should the shooter break both targets with one shot, the result will be scored as two "kills."

To call for a bird, the trapper will announce he is ready by saying “trapper ready”.  When the shooter is ready to shoot, he will say “pull” and the trapper will release the clay(s).

Tinnin Hunt Club reserves the right at any time to ask anyone to leave the premises for such cause that management may determine to be in the best interest of others.  If a person is asked to leave for any such reason, no money shall be refunded.
