Safety

Hunters shall practice safe gun handling procedures at all times.

There shall be no littering on the club property.

No refunds shall be issued unless deemed appropriate by ownership and management.

Non-hunters shall remain in a designated area as prescribed by the Owner/Manager. Flight pens are restricted areas.

Hunt only the species you have contracted to hunt.

Owner/Manager reserves the right to refuse service to anyone.

Hunters shall not pursue game outside their designated area.

All hunters must wear a blaze orange hat and vest/coat while upland hunting.

All hunters must wear eye and ear protection.

Hunting shall cease when the birds contracted have been harvested.

If for any reason a hunter harvests more game than contracted for or of another species than contracted for, then the hunter shall pay an additional fee per species, as listed in the pricing packet.

Cleaning of game shall be only at designated areas.

Guns shall be stored in vehicle when not in use.

All guns shall remain unloaded at all times except when in the designated hunting or shooting area.

All persons under the age of 18 must provide proof of Hunter Safety Course completion.

Absolutely NO consumption of alcohol or use of drugs is allowed.

Guns should always be unloaded and placed in cases when traveling to and from and within fields. Please keep all guns in cases until they are needed.

Guns must remain unloaded in parking areas.

Keep your safety on until prepared to shoot. USE COMMON SENSE: do not rely on your gun’s safety; treat all firearms as if they are loaded.

Don’t shoot unless you are sure of your target and what lies beyond it.

Be mindful of the direction your gun is pointed.

Please respect all other hunters and field boundaries.

Hunting shall be done by reservation only.

Please pick up empty casings and litter.

Please exercise care when smoking.

Management is not responsible for items lost or stolen from the property.

Management reserves the rights to accompany or have a guide accompany any member while in the field.

Observe all posted signs and warnings.

Don’t lean loaded firearms against vehicles.

Treat every gun with respect.

Watch that Muzzle and carry your gun safely. Keep safety on until ready to shoot.

Unload Guns when not in use; take down or have actions open.

Be sure barrel is clear of obstructions and that you have ammunition only of the proper size for the gun you carry.

Be sure of the target before you pull the trigger. Know identifying features of the game you hunt.

Never climb a tree or fence or jump a ditch with a loaded gun. Never pull a gun toward you by the muzzle.

Never shoot a bullet at a flat, hard surface or water. At target practice, be sure your backstop is adequate.

Store guns and ammunition separately beyond the reach of children.

Rules are subject to change, as conditions require.

Tinnin Hunt Club reserves the right at any time to ask anyone to leave the premises for such causes that management may determine to be in the best interest of others. If a person is asked to leave for any such reason, no money shall be refunded.

Upland Game Bird Hunting

Always treat every firearm as loaded: Never point a gun at anything you don't intend to shoot, even if it's unloaded.

Load a maximum of 3 shells at a time: barrel plugs are required in the field.

Maintain proper muzzle control: Keep your gun pointed in a safe direction at all times, even when loading or unloading.

  • Barrel UP while walking through the field

Identify your target before you shoot: Be absolutely certain of what you're aiming at before pulling the trigger.

Follow safe firearm handling practices: Safety ON and keep your finger OFF the trigger until you're ready to shoot. Do not release the safety mechanism until the gun is in the raised position and ready to shoot. Once you have taken the shot, immediately reset the safety mechanism.

Maintain a straight line with the other hunters at all times: All hunters should maintain a safe shooting field of view while moving through the field.

‘If it’s too low, let it go’: If a bird is on the ground or flying too close to a dog, other hunters, or the guide, do NOT shoot until it is safe to do so.

*If hunters are not maintaining these safety protocols, the guide will end the hunt immediately.

Remember, safety is paramount in upland game hunting. By following these protocols and practicing responsible hunting principles, you can ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for yourself and others.

Vehicles

Hunters may or may not be allowed to drive their vehicles to the designated parking spots for their assigned field.

Be courteous of hunters and their hunting locations while driving and be aware of your surroundings.

No vehicles are allowed overnight unless prior authorization has been obtained.

Hunting privileges can be terminated for unsafe or inappropriate actions while in use of a vehicle. (No refund of monies or birds)

Maximum speed limit on the property is 15 MPH.

Dogs

Hunters shall maintain strict control of their dogs at all times.

Dogs must remain kenneled until in the field.

No dogs are allowed in the clubhouse.

Aggressive or dangerous dogs may be banned from club.

Tinnin Hunt Club dogs take priority over all other dogs brought on property.

Be courteous of other hunting dogs.

All dogs must have current shots and be disease free before they can enter property.

Dogs cannot be used for big game or chase other none hunted species.

Clean up after your dogs.

Tinnin Hunt Club is not responsible for any injuries, etc, that may occur to non Tinnin Hunt Club dog, including dogs hunting on non guided bird hunts.

Guests

Any guest is the client’s responsibility, and a client’s use could be terminated based on their actions. Any violation of New Mexico game laws, or Tinnin Hunt Club rules will result in immediate removal from the property, without any refund of monies paid.

The property is watched by not only the New Mexico Game and Fish, but also by cameras and trail cams throughout the property. Don’t get banned from property because you brought the wrong guest on site.

Birds

All birds leaving the property must be properly recorded and tagged. Please note this is not a club rule, but a state law.

At no time will protected animals or animals out of season be harassed. (I.e. hawks, falcons, deer, elk, waterfowl, etc.)

Do not shoot over roadways.

Unsafe hunting is completely unacceptable and will not be tolerated by Tinnin Hunt Club. For example, if you have any doubt as to the angle of the shot, the location of another hunter or the dog or you just don’t feel right about it—hold your fire. Do not take any unnecessary risks.

Try to recover wounded birds within the confines of your designated hunting area or notify Tinnin Hunt Club staff of the last known location of the wounded bird.

Shooters and guides should maintain a constant parallel line on flushing hunts. This allows each shooter the widest possible latitude to shoot safely. Adjust your walking pace as needed to ensure that the line is straight, especially when approaching a point. If your path takes you over uneven ground, be sure that everyone knows the location of other hunters that may be hidden by terrain or brush.

Each hunter has a slightly overlapping “zone” in which he or she can safely shoot. This zone should take into account other hunters, guides, dogs, vehicles, etc. Visualize your zone before a shot presents itself so you know where potential danger areas will be.

Hunting shall cease when the birds contracted have been harvested.

If for any reason a hunter harvests more game than contracted for or of another species than contracted for then hunter shall pay an additional fee per bird, as listed in the pricing packet.

Birds shall not be shot on the ground or near dogs.

Don’t shoot birds off the roadway while driving in or out.

Guided Hunts

If any guide feels that other hunters, he, or guide dogs are in danger of being shot, the hunt will end immediately and no refunds will be given.

Any dogs that are shot by a hunter will cost the hunter $5,000 plus vet bills.

Cancellation of any guided hunt is required at least 48 hours in advance or guide fees will be charged to your account.

Cancellations

Cancellations must be done 48 hours before a hunt. No exceptions will be made!

Failure to show without cancellation will result in birds being charged from your account.

Weather delays will be taken into consideration by management only and the hunter must abide to this decision.

Equipment

If you use any equipment from the club, it is to be checked out in advanced with management.

You are responsible to keep the equipment in reasonable condition and to not abuse in any way. Any damage caused by you or your guest is your responsibility.

Report any damage on your check out list.

If you get stuck in the field notify management and we will help you. Don’t try to resolve the problem yourself.

If the equipment is not working properly notify management and write down on your check out list.

Do not damage fields or crops by running any equipment off road or in wet conditions stay on roads.

Most of all we hope you enjoy your time at Tinnin Hunt Club. Be considerate to others needs as well as your own. By no means are we perfect and we do make mistakes, however we will do our best to accommodate your needs. If there is any way we can make your experience with us more enjoyable, please let us know and we will do our best!
