Further Details
Guideline 1.2 – Time-based Media
Smart waivers can include videos provided by each vendor. It is the responsibility of the vendor to provide text closed-captioning to accompany their videos. There are no other audio portions of the smart waiver.
Guideline 1.4 – Distinguishable
Color contrast on the waiver's red error messages passes standard testing for large text and for UI components and graphical objects. Error message contrast for regular-sized text is being addressed as part of our 2027 improvements.
Guideline 2.2 – Enough Time
Kiosks using smart waivers are able to set inactivity timeouts ranging from 5 to 60 minutes, at the discretion of the vendor. Signing the waiver outside of a kiosk setting is available to all vendors and carries no timeout.
Guideline 2.3 – Seizures & Physical Reactions
A one-second animation appears on the smart waiver when a drawn initial or signature is required. This animation can be turned off by selecting "Typed Signatures" in account Settings.
Guidelines 1.1, 3.1, and 4.1 – In Progress
Text alternatives, language identification, and assistive technology compatibility are areas actively being evaluated and improved. Full remediation of these guidelines is targeted for 2027.
